About Hollywood FGB Cathedral
Founded in 1941.
Welcome to the official website of the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral of Amityville, New York. Hollywood was founded in the garage of Farmingdale family in August of 1941 and has since that time, been one of the leading congregations in Central Long Island.
The church currently is home to a vibrant ministry that includes worship, praise, dance and powerful sermons. Beyond Sunday, the church is quite active in community projects evidenced by its daily hosting of meetings for the “recovery community” and its weekly food pantry that serves hundreds of families throughout the year.
The church has been blessed with sterling leadership that includes Rev. Frank P. Rogers, Sr. (1941-1952). Rev. Frank P. Rogers, Jr. (1952-1956), Rev. V. M. Bailey (1956-1958) and Dr. Andy C. Lewter, Sr. (1959-2006).
In January of the 2006, the leadership of the church was turned over to Bishop Andy C. Lewter, Jr. who returned home after 27 years of pastoring in upstate New York and Columbus, Ohio.
The motto of the church is that we are “changing the way we do church, one pew at a time.” The congregation continues to operate in a growth mode and has become quite active in media and a number of other digital projects.
