About Bishop Andy C. Lewter

Biographical Sketch of Bishop Andy C. Lewter, D. Min.

Bishop Lewter is a native New Yorker having been born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island.  He is a product of the Amityville Public School System and graduated from Long Island Lutheran High School in 1972.  In addition, Bishop Lewter holds degrees from Oberlin College (BA degree), Harvard Divinity School (Masters of Divinity) and United Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry degree).

Bishop Lewter’s pastoral career has taken him to the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Ossining, New York (1978-1985), the Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio (1985-2005) and currently the Hollywood Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral of Amityville, NY (2006-present).

In addition to local ministry, Bishop Lewter serves as the Bishop of Christian Education for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, having been consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1993 by Bishop Paul S. Morton.

Some of Bishop Lewter’s other activities include the operation of an Online Bible College and the production of several internet based videos for teaching and inspiration.  Bishop Lewter also enjoys writing and shares his gifts in journalism with several publications including Gospel Today, the Community Journal, The Manna Newspaper and Precepts for Living.

Bishop Lewter is blessed with a lovely family that includes a daughter, Stephanie, a resident of South Carolina and a son, Andy C. Lewter, III, a resident of New Jersey.  The joy of Bishop’s life are his three grandaughters, Tiana, Olivia and “Baby Ruth”.
